Christine Kay Gantt, age 58, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born on November 1, 1963, in Tri Lakes, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Earl McDowell and Patsy (Kelly) Bruner. Christine grew up in Fort Wayne and worked as a caregiver providing home health care for several years. She dedicated her life to her ministry, turning childhood trauma into a way to reach out to “the broken people” and offer guidance and help to those in need. This led her to serve as a minister in the prison system, always helping those less fortunate. When she wasn’t working, Christine enjoyed creating art in all different forms, writing and reading poetry, and listening to music, especially Christian music. She loved football and was a Colts fan, but above all, she truly loved being a grandma. She was very proud of all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving Christine are her sons, Jeremy (Diana) Horne and Steven (Regan) Horne; step-sons, Mark (Tiffany) Gantt and Brian Gantt; her grandchildren, Soshah, William, Karlegan, Izaiah, Elijah, Elizabeth, Madison, Landon, and Logan; her great-grandchildren, Karson, Christian, Tyler Jr., and Annaleah; her brothers, Robert McDowell (her twin), and Richard Ransom; and her “honorary sister”, Rosemarie Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Gantt; her daughter, Amanda Tyler; and her parents. A funeral service for Christine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, following the conclusion of the funeral service. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy for the family may be left at www.hockemeyermillerfh.com.
