Betty Elizabeth Leach, 80, passed away December 8, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born April 3, 1944, in Shelbyville, IN, the daughter of the late William Lester and Elizabeth Moreine Brewer.
She graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Betty attended Cornerstone Church in Hicksville and Blackhawk Ministries. Betty was a loving wife and mother of three. Growing up Betty enjoyed singing in a band, Betty Brewer and the Red Coats, along with her brother. The band performed on television, radio, and recorded a record with Lincoln Recording Company. Betty was a very talented artist. She enjoyed oil painting, graphite drawings and portraits, craft shows, and recently wrote and illustrated a children’s book. She along with her husband planted several churches where she led the music ministry and several choirs. Recently she started a choir in her living community. She was always quick to share her faith with others while being an encourager and prayer-warrior.
Betty is survived by her children, Michael D. (Karla) Leach of Warsaw, IN; Debra (David) Cooke of Huntertown, IN; Lora (John) Layman of Huntington, IN; grandchildren, Cody (Katie) Cooke, Kaitlin (Nathan) Eggleton, David (Ryley) Layman, Shannon Cooke, Hanna (Jackson) Cardoso, Mary (Kobe) Zimmer, Nathan Leach, Izak Leach; and great grandchildren, Ethan Eggleton and Alaina Cardoso.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard Dean Leach; and her brother, William Edward Brewer.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Saturday December 14, 2024, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday December 13, 2024 at the funeral home. Committal and Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, Inc.
