Vicki Ellen May

She was born December 6, 1952, in Wauseon, Ohio, to parents Woodward and Marie May. She attended public schools in Ohio, eventually graduating from Baptist Bible College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, with a teaching degree. During an elementary teaching career spanning over 40 years, Vicki impacted the lives of many local children and their parents, including those at Fort Smith Christian, Morrison Elementary and Pike Elementary.

During and after her public teaching career, Vicki was also an integral part of the children’s ministry team at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, pouring into the lives of many first-graders and their families. She was also a faithful member of the adult choir at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, and helped with children’s choirs as well.

Vicki is survived by her brother, Doug May (wife Nancy) of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and their three children: Jennifer May, Christopher May and Susan Mayo (husband Troy). She is also survived by a sister, Julie Denten (husband Michael) of Phoenix, Arizona, and their three children: Andrew Denten (wife Jennifer), Kimberly Clark (husband Kevin) and Michelle Williams (husband Jason).

She also is survived by numerous cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by parents Woodward and Marie May and one brother, Don May.

Family visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday at Edwards Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Friday at Grand Avenue Baptist Church with burial to follow at Oak Cemetery.
