Thomas Anthony Hotz, Sr., 97, of Barling, died September 1, 2015 in Barling. He was born in Winnipeg, Canada, the oldest of nine children, on October 26, 1917 to John Anthony and Esther Wilheimina Nelson Hotz. He was a retired Civil Engineer for Harding Glass Company after 23 years of service. Mr. Hotz was a resident of Fort Smith for 49 years and recently moved to Mercy Crest Retirement Center in Barling. He was a man of deep Catholic faith and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church since 1950, may he be in paradise today. He was also a veteran of U.S. Army serving during WWII in the Pacific.
He is survived by two daughters, Helen Redmond of Oak Ridge, TN., and Kathy Thompson of Chattanooga, TN; four sons, Steve Hotz of Fort Smith, Thomas Hotz of Barling, John Hotz of Russellville, and Joe Hotz of Austin, TX; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Helen Ruth Kaufman Hotz.
Rosary will be said on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 6:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel and Mass will be said on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 9:30 AM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
