Robert McGrew Jr.

Robert McGrew Jr., 71, of Van Buren, passed away January 29, 2012 in Tahlequah, OK. He was born March 31, 1940 in Fort Smith to Robert Sr. and Edna Esley McGrew. Robert was formerly the manager of McPowell’s restaurant at the Van Buren Co-op, and also was the former manager of Furr’s cafeteria. He had also worked at United Fabricators and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Wood Memorial Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janie of Van Buren; two daughters, Kendra Elliot and her husband Mike, of Powell, TN, and Monica Baber and her husband Gary, of Fort Smith; two sons, Robert Russell McGrew III and his wife Joan of Fort Smith, and Kenneth Hayes and his wife Stacie of Powell, TN; one sister, Billie Powell of Odessa, TX; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Darla Morris.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith, with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be: Jason Smith, Jeremy, Jimmy, Dan, Chris, Randy, Chester, and Tommy McGrew.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of McGrew Deer Camp.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 31, 2012, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
