Robert Walter “Bob” Burns, 84 of Fort Smith, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024. He was born on September 26, 1940, in Fairhaven, Massachusetts to the late Milton Burns and Jane Mitchell Burns. Bob was a mechanical engineer. Bob came to Fort Smith when asked to build the Planters Plant here. He was of the Christian faith. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a brother, David Burns.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lynda Burns, of the home; a daughter, Robyn Burns of Lavaca, AR; a step-daughter, Robyn Langham (John) of Fort Smith; a son, Eric Burns (Heather) of Greenwood; a step-son, Kerry Ray (Caroline) of Van Buren, AR; a sister, Maryann Haen (Gene) of Pembrook, Mass; a brother, Bill Burns (JoAnne) of Plymouth, Mass, along with seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Bob requested no services to be held and wanted everyone to celebrate his life their own way. He will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR.
