Rena White Little

Rena White Little, our loving Mother and Grandmother passed away in a local hospital March 18, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born April 2, 1924. She grew up in a large family with little means and excelled in many areas; working as a field hand, attending grades 1-8 in a two room school house and as she moved into adulthood she met and married her husband, S.D. White. In 1962 they moved their two children from Mt. Ida, AR to Fort Smith where she became a faithful and active member of Grand Ave Baptist Church until her health kept her homebound the last 5 years. She was a strong Christian and practiced her faith throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by husbands, S.D. White and Gene Little and step grandson Jeff Shipley.

She is survived by her daughter, Saundra Lockhart (Jim) and son, Waldo White (Cathey) and granddaughters Crystal White and Deanna Wright, her step children; Dorothy Jones, Elaine Brown, Michael, Darrell, Dwight and Doug Little, step grandchildren Andy and Tim Lockhart and Greg Shipley and was a great grandmother to 5 and step great grandmother to 19. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Sherman, and brother D.M. Beck as well as many nieces and nephews.

The families’ appreciation goes to her two long time caregivers; Nadine Chestnut and Peggy Griffin.

Services will be at Fentress Mortuary Chapel, at 2:00 p.m. Friday March 21. The family will visit with friends following the services. Burial will follow at RoseLawn Cemetery in Fort Smith.

Michael Little and Reverend Larry Sherman will officiate. Pallbearers are Jim, Andy and Tim Lockhart, Greg Shipley, Larry Sherman and Jacque Reynolds.
