Raymond was a proud Army veteran who dedicated his life to service and craftsmanship. In the 1980s, he served as a police officer and a volunteer firefighter. Later, he worked for many years in carpentry and cabinetry alongside his father, building homes and crafting fine woodwork still admired throughout the Texarkana region. He loved working with his hands and took great pride in the things he built.
An avid outdoorsman, Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Kord Hickson, Malissa Hickson, and Kathleen Hickson; his siblings, William Hickson and Judy Caples; and his grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Keith Hickson and Shane Hickson, and by his parents, Raymond Hickson Sr. and Rovine Hickson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas, at 11:00 AM in the chapel, with a repast meal to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites guests to bring a potluck-style side dish for the repast meal or consider donating a gift card to assist with meal expenses. Gift cards may be brought to the service, sent virtually to [email protected], or coordinated directly with Kord Hickson.
