Leonard J Gunter

Leonard Jackson Gunter, 86, of Fort Smith, died August 23, 2011 in Fort Smith. He was born March 29, 1925 in Fort Smith to Andrew and Grace Corbell Gunter. He was retired from Service American Vending, Midwest Vending and the Fort Smith Fire Department. He was a member of the Oak Cliff Baptist Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by three sons, Gary L. Gunter of Arkoma, Randall L. Gunter of Fort Smith, and Timothy B. Gunter of Fort Smith; one sister, Doris Scannell of El Paso, TX; three grandchildren, Matthew Steven Gunter, Janet Lynn Gunter, and Amanda Medley; and one great grandchild, Joshua Medley. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Gunter.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel and burial will be Monday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Curtis McDonald, Jay Weichart, Steve Whitson, Jimmy Selig, Bobby and Jerry Sparkman, and Jack Jones.

The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5-7 PM.
