Lee Steele

Lee Steele, 86, of Fort Smith, AR, passed away September 15 in Fort Smith. She was a retired owner/ranch manager with the Diamond “S” Ranch of Mansfield, AR. A member of the USO from 1941 to 1955, she was also a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray M. Steele, her parents, Stephan and Susie Sampson, and 2 brothers, Luther and Stephan Sampson . For many years Lee had taken care of numerous “foster” children whom she called her own, 3 of which also preceded her death: Lena and Rayford Gilley and Robert Jordan.

She is survived by a 1 daughter, Edith Finn of Fort Smith, 3 sons, Ray M. Steele and Stephan Lee Steele of Greenwood, AR, and Bobby Lee Stubbs of Corpus Christi, TX, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 18, from 5:30pm until 7:30pm at Edwards Funeral Home with funeral services scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 19 at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to be Thursday, September 20 at 2:00 pm, at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, Louisiana.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Cole and Vercy Williams
