Joyce Ann McKenzie

Joyce Ann McKenzie, 78, of Pocola passed from this life January 22, 2018 in Fort Smith. She was born February 24, 1939 to the late John and Donnie Belle Bradshaw. Joyce was a 1957 graduate of Pocola High School. She was a charter member of Christian Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Pocola where she was a Sunday school teacher and song leader. Joyce worked for and retired from Whirlpool, having worked on the same line from the beginning. Her, and her husband Billy, traveled extensively with their friends Buddy and Letha Pope, and enjoyed playing cards with Ronald and Maelene Goins. Joyce loved all things Pocola, was an avid Pocola Indian athletics fan, especially Pocola girls basketball. She never missed any event her grandkids were participating in and was considered “Grandma” to many in the community. Joyce will be remembered as a strong Christian woman.

She is survived by husband of 58 years, Billy; two daughters, Tanga “Tangie” Luu and Angie McKenzie-Childers and her husband Randy, all of Pocola; two sons, Mark McKenzie and his wife Shana of Pocola and Ve Dao and his wife Tracy of Houston, Texas; a sister, Clara Treat of Pocola; two brothers, Sonny Bradshaw of McAlister, Oklahoma and Don Allen Bradshaw of Pocola; six grandchildren, Jeremy Luu and his wife Lyndsey, Mindy Beesley and her husband Chad, Dody Luu and his fiancé Michele, Christopher, Hunter and Landon McKenzie and Michele, Kimberly and Tony Dao, and Josh and Jamie Childers, as well as seven great grandchildren, Michala, McKenzie and Caremy Beesley, Mason McKenzie, Rayce Luu, and Presleigh and Landie Riggs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Billy; a granddaughter, Hannah McKenzie; and four infant brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Pocola High School Gym with burial following at Macedonia Cemetery in Pocola. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Evans-Miller Funeral Home in Pocola. All services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her Jeremy and Dody Luu, Christopher and Landon McKenzie, Sonny and Don Allen Bradshaw, Buddy Pope and Ronald Goins. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Stormes, Steve and Russell Cattaneo, Randy Bradshaw, Gene, Terry, Shannon and Ben Daniel, Roy Lee and Bill Rogers.
