Jayne Louise Vick, 90, of Fort Smith, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2011 in Fort Smith. She was born on November 16, 1920 in Fort Smith to Fay Winford and Thelma Furlong Boozman. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Midland Heights United Methodist Church where she had been active for many years and served in the past as a children’s Sunday School teacher and Methodist Youth counselor and she also was a past Cub Scout den mother.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, William L. Vick, Sr., one daughter Sharon Vaughn of Fort Smith, three sons, William L Vick, Jr. and Jackie Reed of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bruce and Brenda Vick of Fort Smith, Brian and Betty Vick of Van Buren; seven grandchildren, Tammy and Don Gunther, Kristi and Dominic Calvert-Lee, Chris and Brandi Vick, Angela and Michael Johnson, Todd and Carrie Vick, Brandon Vick and Matthew and Christina Vick; eleven great grandchildren, Kelly Gunther, Emily Gunther, Sidney Gunther, Toby Calvert-Lee, Arabella Calvert-Lee, Michaela Calvert-Lee, Cole Vick, Allison Sandlin, Chandler Johnson, Eli Vick and Riley Vick; one sister, Pat Echols of Fort Smith; Nephews, United States Senator John Boozman and wife Cathy, Jim and wife Susan Echols, Bob and wife Becky Echols, Dan and wife Becky Brambl, and William Sleeper; Nieces, Debbie and husband Michael Malone, and Vickey Boozman along with many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fay W. Boozman, Jr and wife Marie; nephew, Fay W. Boozman, III, her grandson, Erick Schmidling; and her son in law Marius Vaughn.
Services will be Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, Officiated by Reverend Dr. Charles Armour, Reverend Matt Daniels, Reverend Todd Vick, and Reverend Herschel McClurkin, with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
