Herman Gene Vaughn, 91, of Fort Smith passed from this life December 8, 2018 in Fort Smith. He was born October 2, 1927, in Jenny Lind, to the late Willie and Oma Vaughn. Herman served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of World War II. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and gardening. Herman was a devoted member of Temple Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Ken Vaughn and wife Arlene of Greenwood; daughter-in-law, Margaret Vaughn of Sheridan, Arkansas; grandchildren, Brian Vaughn, Mindy Vaughn, Tim Waggoner and Angela Irvin; great grandchildren, Johnathan Vaughn, Jacob Vaughn, Johnny (Levi) Irvin, III, Ryan King, Jared King, Tessa Irvin, Kolton Waggoner, Colby Irvin and Dalton Irvin; great great grandson, Nolan Ryan King; two brothers, Bill Vaughn and wife Nancy and Raymond Vaughn and wife Lucy, all of Fort Smith; and one sister, Brenda Harkreader and husband Jimmy of Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Vaughn; son, Herman Gene Vaughn, Jr., as well as his sisters, Helen Keith and Beulah Roe.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday December 12, 2018 at Temple Baptist Church, with burial following at Steep Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Tuesday December 11, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Vaughn, Johnathan Vaughn, Jacob Vaughn, Tim Waggoner, Terry Vaughn, Michael Vaughn and Clinton Vaughn.
