He was born in West Point, Virginia on October 12, 1939 to Edward Thomas Schultz and Eula Richardson Schultz. Don grew up in West Point and he worked as a Manufacturing Engineer his whole career until his passing. Don never retired from working and he enjoyed his work as well as the great people he worked with. Don married the love of his life Elizabeth Joyce Guthrie in April of 1962. Throughout their 62 years of marriage they lived in Virginia, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and finally settled in Arkansas to spend time with their daughters, grandchildren, and great grandkids.
Don is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Joyce Schultz, his parents Edward and Eula Schultz, two brothers Richard and Gary Schultz, two sisters in law Ann Schultz and Bessie Guthrie, his mother and father in law James and Eva Guthrie, brother in law Dennis Hogge, and son in law Eric Apperson.
Don is survived by two daughters Cheryl Apperson and Wendy Chamberlain, grandchildren Zackery and Jordan Chamberlain, Lexie and Trenton Schien, Kylie Chamberlain, and Triston Apperson, great grandchildren Zayden, Axton, Leighton, and Josie, sister in law Mildred Hogge, brother in law Paul Guthrie, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Heath Chamberlain, Zackery Chamberlain, Trenton Schien, Tristan Apperson, and Doug Schoenfeld.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Friday November 22, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the ceremony at the Barling Cemetery.
