Alonzo F. Mitchell

Alonzo F. Mitchell, 80, of Fort Smith, passed away Saturday December 6, 2014 in his home. He was born March 20, 1934 in Waldron, AR to the late James W. and Sarah E. Mitchell. He was retired from the United States Air Force and the United State Postal Service. He was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church, VFW Post 8845, American Legion Post #31, DAV and Vietnam Veterans of America. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 10th, 2014 at Edwards Funeral Home with burial at Mountain View Cemetery with full Military Honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Elsie Mae Mitchell, two daughters Pamela Barron and husband Donnie of Muldrow, OK and Theresa Mitchell of Fort Smith, one son Dennis Franklin Mitchell and wife Kimberly of Alexander, AR, one sister Cora McGinnis and husband Buddy of Bella Vista, AR, four brothers Johnie Mitchell and wife Eleanor of Washburn, MO, Joe Mitchell of Stigler, OK, Clarence (Gene ) Mitchell and wife Retta of Grove, OK and Leroy Mitchell and wife Donna of Ridgecrest, CA, four grandchildren Tonya Deel and husband Stephen of Sallisaw, OK, Amy Blakley and husband Tim of Benton, AR, Christen Butler and husband Gary of Benton, AR, Stacey Barron of Austin, TX and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be members of the United States Air Force Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM at the funeral home.
