At the age of 15, Philip took over the operation of the family farm where he resided for the duration of his life. Before his retirement in 1988, he spent 22 years working at Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. In his younger years, Philip enjoyed trapping, fishing, playing pool, baseball, and volleyball. The Rakowski family attended Lamont Alliance Church where Philip served as a treasurer for many years. Philip and his wife Kate enjoyed their occasional travels, visiting Hawaii, Mexico, Disneyland, Toronto, and British Columbia as well as many communities throughout Alberta; but for Philip there was no place like home.
Philip will be fondly remembered by his children, Jean, Judith, Geraldine (Gerald), Paulette, and Tabitha; grandchildren, Aaron (Donna), Lindsey (James), Amy (Daniel), Jonathan (Melissa), Darren, Dean (Stefanie), Curtis, Danielle (Ryan), Shane, and Shantel; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hailey, Alexander, Norah, Rayah, Hudson, Ellis, David, Oscar, Benjamin, Sophia, Olivia, Jane, and Clara.
Philip was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Kate, all of his siblings, and sons-in law, David and Terence.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Philip will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at the Fort Saskatchewan Alliance Church, 9935 93 Avenue Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. A private family Interment will take place prior to the service.
