Deborah "Debbie" Marlene Norton

Debbie passed away peacefully in Balcarres on Monday, May 22, 2023. Debbie was born in Balcarres on July 1, 1961.

Debbie was predeceased by her daughter Hailey Norton; parents Doris (nee Anaquod), and Patrick Desnomie; in-laws Esther (Cummings) and A.J. Norton and siblings: Shirley Malbeuf (Fayant), Mary Peterson (Fayant), Evelyn Morrow (Fayant), Phyllis Bellegarde (Fayant), Bill Fayant and Marshall Fayant.

Debbie is survived by her husband of over thirty-five years, Stan (Penny) Norton; her daughter Amy; son Charles Norton; grandchildren: Lindsay Kahnapace Norton, Kaileb Cyr, Kyla Cyr and many friends and family.

Debbie grew up and raised her family in Lebret, Saskatchewan. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved socializing at bingo and loved having company over. Mom worked as a childcare monitor at File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council for over 25 years where she was recently honoured for her many years of service and dedication.

Mom was loved very much and will be missed. Even though she was suffering, dealing with health problems, she always kept her great sense of humour.

The wake was held in Peepeekisis Pesakastew school on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.. The funeral service was held in the Peepeekisis Pesakastew School, Peepeekisis Cree Nation on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lorraine Keewatin officiating. The interment followed in the Peepeekisis Roman Catholic Cemetery, Peepeekisis Cree Nation.
