Mary Alice Palmer, “Little Red”, was truly a one of a kind! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She was of the Christian faith and adored Alan Jackson’s Gospel music. You would often find her listening to his music on the radio in her kitchen. Alice was an avid walker of 2 to 3 miles per day and was always trying to keep herself in tip top shape. She enjoyed getting her hair done with an occasional shopping spree around town. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed not only preparing meals for her family but also for those in need around the community. Alice was a great story teller of past childhood memories and growing up with her siblings in Smithville, Tennessee. They were raised on a tobacco farm and harvested tobacco which in turn led to their strong work ethic and solid family ties.
Upon leaving the Tennessee area, she traveled to multiple places including Michigan, Kentucky, and Ohio. She then decided to settle in Fellsmere, Florida and made it home with her husband Ledford palmer raising 9 children. The last 20 years she happily resided in Vero Beach.
Alice’s parents were Herbert and Sarah Cantrell of Smithville, Tennessee. Alice is preceded in death by the love of her life, Ledford Palmer and their 2 daughters; Judy Monnin and Thelma Cayton. She is also preceded by her siblings; Solon Cantrell, Maggie Mills, Ira Cantrell and Myrtle Caskey. Alice is survived by her 7 loving children; Crystal Palmer, JL Palmer and wife Susan, Willard Palmer, Louis Palmer and wife Joann, Brenda Barnes and husband Butch, Jeannie Palmer and Andrew Palmer and wife Erica. She is survived by her loving sister Dorotha Bruce (Dot), by her grandchildren; Danny Finch, Michael Monnin, Jason Monnin, Jimmy Barnes, Danielle Cayton, Ross Palmer, Tad Palmer, Colter Hanawalt, Corbin Palmer and Drew Palmer.
