John K McAulay was born on October 30th, 1933, to Graham Eaglesham McAulay and Agnes Smith, in Scotland and passed away on June 23rd, 2024 at the age of 90. Surrounded by his loving family. John was one of five children and resided in Newton Mearns growing up.
John excelled in soccer and was signed as a junior professional it was said that he was one of the best.
Serving in the Royal Air Force for two years. John then immigrated to New York in October 1955. John meet his wife Sarah “Sally” in 1956 in Minneola, New York, doing what they loved, dancing. That following year they were married on June 29th.
John became a US Citizen July 1970, sponsored by his sister Janette Severson (Karl).
John’s proudest family moments are the birth of his four children, Kathleen McAulay, Jacqueline Gillen (Jim Dekker), Donald McAulay (Carolyn), and John McAulay (Leslie), and six grandchildren, Donald John McAulay, Robert Graham McAulay, Megan McAulay, Sarah Gillen, Jack McAulay and Lindsay McAulay.
John work for the Long Island Railroad for 25 years. He was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In addition, he enjoyed supporting the community organizing the very successful East Islip soccer club and having an annual trophy named after him The Jack McAulay Award.
John was predeceased by wife Sarah "Sally" of 65 years,his parents, and Brothers Graham McAulay, and Ronald McAulay and Sister Jeanette Severson. He is survived his, children, grandchildren, Brother Brian McAulay of Kilmarnock, Scotland and Sister Margo Patafio of Melbourne, FL, along with the countless friends and lives John has touched throughout his life.
He loved to golf and did work at the PGA in Port St Lucie in his retirement years. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was a true example of hard working, and kindness.

An inurnment (placement of the urn) for John Monday July 15th, 2024 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6026 North Us Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. A reception will follow from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Aycock Funeral Home, 6026 North US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946.
