(née Buckley)
Passed away peacefully on 22nd November, 2021 at 72 years old after a difficult struggle with dementia. She is survived by her devoted husband Rod after 52 years of happy marriage. She is loved and remembered by her daughter Lucy, son James and his wife Caroline and grandson Julian.
Sue was a fair and virtuous person, known for her positive attitude, welcoming smile, and generous laughter. She brightened up any room she entered.
Her first love was for her family and she treasured the close friendships she had built throughout her colorful life in UK, Canada, and in Florida. Sue loved to entertain and was known for throwing great parties. She loved to play cards, dominoes, and while away the hours playing fun board games such as Ticket to Ride, Sequence, Colosseum and Settlers of Catan. She was also an avid Mahjong player.
Sue enjoyed the arts – theatre, music, and reading, as well as baking and sewing. Sue was a 5-year certified hairdresser and an excellent ballroom dancer.
Sue was captain of her school netball team, squash player, and later in life became a keen golfer and served as the President of the Gateway Ladies Golf Association. She was a charitable person and inaugurated the Rally for a Cure event at Gateway Golf Club.
Sue travelled extensively and had a special love for Ireland, Germany, Barcelona, Portugal, and Cornwall. She was always proud of her Yorkshire roots and often travelled back to the UK to visit family and friends.
Sue will be sadly missed by all, and will always be loved, remembered, and cherished in our hearts.
The family extends its sincere thanks to the teams at Mayo Clinic (Jacksonville) and Hope Heathcare Hospice House (Lehigh) for their care and dedication.
