Susan Claire (Bissonnette) Carpenter, daughter of Carolyn Jessie (Yon) and Aime Joseph Bissonnette, was born at the U.S. Army hospital, Fort Campbell, Kentucky on 21 December 1951. She departed this life on Friday, 1 December 2023 at the age of 71 years old. Susan is predeceased by her parents, Carolyn and Aime Bissonnette; her brother, Ronald Mark Bissonnette, and wife Tammy; her niece, Jessica Bissonnette and nephew, Mark Bissonnette.
Susan was a caring and loving person who shared her love with all her family and friends. She was the ultimate caregiver for anyone and everyone in need. Nothing made her happier than being able to help. She loved with all her heart and laughed with her whole being. If you ever experienced her laughing uncontrollably, then you know what pure joy looks like. Susan was passionate about everything she did, including organizing family parties and events. She loved celebrating birthdays, Christmas, and Halloween (with costumes). She loved to bring others happiness. She also loved Elvis, animals (especially dogs), creating handmade gifts, and yard sales. Susan was known as the family photographer and video master, capturing special moments and documenting a treasure trove of family memories to be passed to future generations.
One of her greatest achievements was caring for her parents in their final years. Susan was a devoted Christian, and her faith was ever-present throughout her life. She spent much of her life volunteering at church and other spiritual events.
While Susan did not have children of her own, the children of our family held a special place in her heart. She cared for them like her own and enjoyed every moment she spent with them. Her memory will live on in those she loved and those that loved her.
She will be sorely missed by her two surviving brothers, Michael Bissonnette and wife Jewel of Richlands, NC and Steven Bissonnette and wife Sue of Powell, Ohio; her aunts Theresa Bissonnette of Fort Myers and Adeline Bissonnette of Willimantic, CT; her Uncle Jasper Metcalf and wife Shirley; her sister-in-law, Rita (Carpenter) Fox; brother-in-law, Regan Carpenter; three nieces Amy Bissonnette, Caroline Bissonnette, Brandy Carpenter, and great niece Rilyan Bissonnette; five nephews Michael, Troy, Carter and Cole Bissonnette and Brandon Carpenter; great nephews Aiden and Dylan Bissonnette.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on 24 February 2024 at Saint Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Fort Myers, Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
