Phyllis Elaine (Nee Mintz) Harvey, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2021 at Signature Healthcare in Fort Myers, Florida after a lengthy battle with kidney failure. Phyllis was born on January 30, 1937, in Hammond, Indiana, to Harry and Lucille Mintz. She lived most of her life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, until deciding to live the good life in Fort Myers, Florida, at America Outdoors. She graduated with a degree in education from Western Michigan University. Phyllis had an amazing, long career helping young people as a diagnostic teacher for the Milwaukee Public School System. Her first marriage was to David Nelson and they later divorced. In 1983, she married William Harvey and had many happy years together until his death. Phyllis was a proud member and past president of Phi Delta Kappa, the Queen Mother of the local community Red Hat Society, and a member of the Moose Club. She loved her home at America Outdoors and all the true friends she made there; loved entertaining and planning parties for friends. Phyllis is survived by a niece Lisa Kotter, cousins Jim (Bonnie) Scott, Jo Canterbury, and Jacki (Boyd) Gruhn, five stepchildren Edward (Kari) Nelson, Paula Nelson, Michael Nelson, Webster Harvey, and Leslie Peterson. Phyllis is also survived by many wonderful, lifelong friends in Wisconsin and Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband William Harvey, parents, Harry and Lucille Mintz, and brother Garry Mintz. The family will have a Celebration of Life to remember Phyllis on Sunday, January 30, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., in the Clubhouse at America Outdoors at 16900 South Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers.
