Margaret “Margie” Roberta Fanning, 78, of North Fort Myers, FL, passed away February 18, 2022. Born October 13, 1943 in Norwood to Philip J. and Rosemarie A. (Riley) Fanning. Margie graduated from Norwood High School in 1961 and from Holy Ghost Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She worked at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center until her retirement in 1998.
Margie was passionate about family. She gave more love than she received. She cared for family, friends and veterans. She had a personality that was larger than life and she always had a story to make you laugh. She loved to travel, Cape Cod and genealogy. She was an active member in the Daughters of the American Revolution, Aaron Guild Chapter. She was also a supporter of the Women in Military Service of America Memorial.
Margie is survived by her brother, John of Norwood; nieces and nephews - Susan, Curtis, Jake and Nicholas Keithley of Colorado; Kristin, John, Liam and Katie Fitzgerald of West Roxbury; David, Katie, Colin and Kassie Fanning of Colorado; as well as numerous cousins. Albina M. “Tommie” Thompson also of North Fort Myers, FL. predeceased Margie.
Graveside services were held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter Street, Norwood, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Margie’s memory to the Daughters of the American Revolution, Aaron Guild Chapter; Norwood High Scholarship Foundation for a student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Nursing, or to the Women in Military Service of America Memorial.
