Elizabeth Jean Reiser

Ft. Myers, FL – Elizabeth “Jean” Reiser, 90, formerly of Springfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Ft. Myers, FL on February 14, 2022. Jean was born in Springfield, Illinois, on January 10, 1932, to Peter and Margaret (Corrigan) Solomon. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in June 1949. She retired from the State of Illinois Rehabilitation Services as an administrative assistant in 1992.

On September 28, 1957, Jean married James Lloyd Reiser, and they happily celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 28, 2017. On January 10, 2022, Jean celebrated her 90th birthday with her children and grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant daughter, Keri Marie. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Peter Solomon and John Solomon, and one sister, Pat Janssen. She is survived by her children: son, Jim (Mary); son, Tim (Mary); daughter, Noreen Luechtefeld (Keith); son, Steve (Michelle); son, Kevin (Cara); and 13 grandchildren – Matthew Reiser (Jenna), Shannon and Casey Reiser; Stacy Reiser; Blaise, Brock, and Bennett Luechtefeld; Nick, Karina, and Jake Reiser, Kaitlynn (Ryan) Mahl, Kolton and Carli Reiser; one great-grandchild, Jackson James; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jean was an active member of St. John XXIII Catholic Church, and she spent many happy years with her children and grandchildren. Her interests included playing pinochle, working on crossword puzzles, rooting for her favorite football team, the Chicago Bears, and of course, watching Fox News.

A memorial mass and burial will be officiated by Rev. Robert Tabbert on Friday, March 18th, at 10:00 A.M. at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 13060 Palomino Lane, Ft. Myers, FL, 33912. Visitation will be held at 09:30 A.M in the vestibule at the church. A luncheon will be held at the Parish Life Center following the memorial mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent in her memory to St. John XXIII Catholic Church or Little Sisters of the Poor.
