Don Raimey passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his friends, family, and pets on March 8, 2022. Don Raimey was born on February 24,1955 in Monroe, Louisiana, the second of three children of Donald Raimey, Sr. and Ruby Lea (Beard) Raimey. Don’s family moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida in 1965, where they were active in and sailed competitively with their local yacht club, Fort Walton Beach Yacht Club. Don's family were members of Fort Walton Beach First United Methodist church and he later joined Saint Michael Lutheran Church in Fort Myers and briefly attended New Hope Evangelical Presbyterian church. Don attended and played football at Choctawhatchee High School, graduating in 1973, and sang in the Madrigals. He met the love of his life, Diane (Hopkins/Gibson) Raimey in the Fort Walton Beach public library while in high school. Don attended Okaloosa Walton Junior College, then he and Diane attended the University of West Florida in Pensacola, each earning degrees in marketing and spending their free time sailing with friends. After college, they settled in Fort Myers, Florida at the invitation of his cousin, Josh Weaver and were married in 1980. He and Diane had two daughters, Kerri and Chloe. In 1982 they started their own employee benefits and financial planning firms, Raimey Corporation / Leading Edge Companies. The family moved to Fort Myers Beach where they raised their two children and enjoyed the beauty of Southwest Florida from the water. Don was a loving father and husband, a savvy and passionate businessman, an adventurous fisherman, hunter, and motorcycle rider, an animated storyteller, and a loyal friend.
Don is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane; two daughters, Kerri (Robert) Sisson and Chloe (Eric Doyle) Raimey; two grandchildren, Mckenzie and Cody Sisson; and his sisters Tricia (Ray) Sansom and Robin (Jess) Borthwick. He is further survived by many other relatives and many friends.
The family will hold a memorial service on April 23, 2022. Memorial contributions may be sent to Guadalupe Center (www.guadalupecenter.org) in loving memory of Don.
