Cato B. Gottschalk, age 100, of Fort Myers, FL passed away August 27, 2017.He was born in Norfolk, VA on June 22, 1917. Cato graduated from Maury High School, where he played football. He served in the US Navy on the ship Susan B. Anthony and received a commendation in action during the successful WWII Sicilian Invasion. He served in the war from Jan 3, 1942 - Aug 20, 1945 with an Honorable Discharge.
Cato joined Lance, Inc. in 1947 as a salesman. He was District Sales Manager in Kansas City, MO where he pioneered much of the mid-west in the sixties. He also managed the Atlanta, GA District from 1969 until retirement in 1979. He moved to Fort Myers, FL in 1980 and became a member of the San Carlos Country Club where he's enjoyed golfing for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ginney; son, Bill (Marcia); step-daughter, Lila (Doug) Wyatt; 2 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; and 3 great granddaughters.
Memorial Service will be held at Cross Way Baptist Church, 4481 Pine Road, Fort Myers, FL 33908 on Sunday, Sept 3, 2017 at 2PM. Arrangements by Hodges at Lee Memorial Park, (239)334-4880. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hope Hospice -9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, Florida 33908.
