Albert Henry Cerrina (80), beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Linda, with whom he shared a lifetime of blessings and cherished memories.
Born on February 26, 1944, in Paterson, NJ, Al was known for his exceptional skills as an air conditioning and refrigeration technician during his 42-year career at Sears and Roebuck. Mechanically minded and inherently resourceful, he could repair almost anything and took great pride in his work. His remarkable abilities earned him a reputation as someone who could solve any problem, big or small.
A man of many passions, Al had a special love and enthusiasm for classic automobiles, evident by his frequent visits to car shows and auction events. He reveled in the excitement of powerful engines, gleaming chrome, and smooth lines, especially Corvettes. His passion extended beyond mere admiration; he passed it down to his children, Richard and Dawn, by sharing the joy of classic cars and helping each of them choose their first Mustangs, making it a cherished family tradition.
In addition to his love for cars, Al had a keen interest in antiques. He enjoyed exploring flea markets and antique shops, where he delighted in uncovering hidden treasures. This hobby sparked countless family conversations and added to the rich tapestry of stories that enriched his life.
A proud Italian and Army National Guard veteran, he drove a tank during his service and carried a lifelong appreciation for quality craftsmanship and precision. His sharp sense of humor, impeccable style, and warm, generous nature endeared him to everyone who knew him.
His friends and family will forever remember him for his high-pitched singing that rivaled Frankie Valli’s and his unfaltering commitment to those he loved.
Albert is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Dawn (Kevin) and Richard (Janet); his four grandchildren, Alynn (Laney), Alyson (Cassell), Elizabeth (Chloe), and Andrew; and his five beautiful great-grandchildren, Reagan, McKinley, Quincy, Carter, and Ford.
A celebration of his life will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Rd. 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913, on October 25, 2024. Viewing begins at 11:00 AM, and the service will begin at noon. Interment will follow in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Samaritan’s Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org in his honor.
