Theodore Sylvester Placzek

Theodore (Ted) Placzek was born 12-10-26 in Cicero IL. He was a veteran of WWII. He was employed by Amphenol Electronics for 32 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed playing golf and watching sports. He was a long time member of BPOE #2273. Married in 1956 to Rita Karch who passed away in 1984.

He leaves his wonderful gorgeous loving wife Ann, children Carol (Randy), Constance (Greg), step children Lou (Lee), Lisa (Mike), John (Janet), Marty, Dale (Connie), 15 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, August 28, 2015 at 9:30am at St. Gregory Catholic Church, Plantation with funeral mass at 10:00am. Internment following mass at South Florida VA National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL.

TED'S EULOGY

Good Morning. I am John McIntyre, Theodore's oldest stepson. On

behalf of Ted's family members, I would like to thank everyone for joining us

today in celebrating Ted's life. Special thanks to all of you who have joined us

from afar. To my dear Mother Ann, Ted's wife & the love of Ted's Life,

Ted is at peace. Ted is with God. May peace be with you Mom.

Today, I would like to share with you some of our families' memories

and insights into Ted's life. Ted was born and raised in the town of Cicero,

outside of Chicago, Illinois.

After high school, Ted served our country in the Army during World

War II in Japan, Germany and the Republic of Trieste in Italy. I had the great

pleasure of visiting the World War II Memorial in Washington with Ted and

other family members shortly after the memorial was completed. During a

conversation I had with Ted about his military service, I remember him

saying:

"That's what I had to do"

No doubt Ted Placzek was indeed an integral part of the "Greatest

Generation" and thank God for Ted's great service to our Country during such

a critical time in history.

Ted lived in Plantation for the past 44 years of his life. Ted and his first

wife, Rita raised their 2 girls Connie and Carol here in Plantation. He worked

here in town for 32 years for Amphenol Electronics Corporation as a manager

overseeing their manufacturing and materials operations. Ted was a parish

member of St. Gregory's Church for over 40 years. Ted was a long-time

member of the Plantation Elks and had dozens of lasting friendships with his

fellow members.

Ted loved watching sports on TV and was a great fan of all of the

Chicago teams he grew to love as a boy growing up in Illinois. He also was a

great fan of the Dolphins, Marlins and Atlanta Braves.

Ted was devoted to his Catholic faith and to his family. Ted's family

consists of my Mother Ann, 2 children} 5 stepchildren} 15 grandchildren} 16

great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

When my Mother married Ted 26 years ago here at St. Gregory's Church

he immediately became an important part of our family. He treated all of us

like we were one of his own blood. Ted always gave the prayer blessing at all

of our family gatherings - asking everyone to hold hands (sometimes as many

as 34 of us) and asking God to bless our family. Ted's prayers were answered

as our family has been truly blessed with our lives and the great times we

have shared being together.

We will always cherish special memories of time we spent at family gettogethers:

vacations with Ted in the Florida Keys - reunions with Ted in

Valdosta} Georgia - and the countless holiday and birthday celebrations.

Ted was an avid golfer an~ accomplished a rare golfing feat of matching

his golfing score to his age at the age of 82 at the SpringTree golf course.

. Ted possessed an extraordinary memory and could recall minute facts

and details of things that happened 20/ 30/ 40 and even 50 years ago. This

always amazed everyone that knew our Ted.

The world is a better place because of the contributions made by

Theodore Placzek - a kind} generous and wonderful man that we loved dearly.

Ted}we all will miss you in our lives.
