Rose Miniaci

Rose Miniaci left this earth peacefully on August 3rd, 2021, a mere three weeks after her 100th birthday celebration. In a serendipitous manner that only Rose could create, she left us 27 years to the day her loving husband Alfred passed away. We are comforted by the message that Alfred and Rose are reunited in their love.

After arriving from Cosenza, Italy, Rose went on to build an incredible life as the matriarchal center of a wonderful family. She gave unconditional love throughout her life as a devoted wife to Alfred, mother, and grandmother. She is forever lovingly remembered by her two sons, Dominick (Meike) and Albert (Beatriz) and her grandchildren Dominique, Maria (Ryan), Alexander, and Alan (Lindsay.)

Rose made her family feel safe and special by being an amazing listener and confidant, and always giving sound advice in her diplomatic and non-judgmental manner. As a true believer in fate and destiny, “Follow your heart” was often her answer when presented with life’s most challenging questions.

We will remember Rose’s generosity, selflessness, gentleness and saint-level patience with utmost gratitude. She was truly a grand dame that lit up any room she arrived in, and smiling from ear to ear when surrounded by those she cared for, whatever the occasion. In her public life, Rose was a philanthropist and legendary supporter of the arts in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She believed strongly in giving back to the community and her name lives on in the memories of those she blessed with her generous spirit. Rose’s devotion to her family, friends and community is an inspiration to all of those fortunate enough to see her shine.

All of Rose’s giving reflected her enduring commitment to enrich the lives of children through the arts locally. In 1998, Rose established an endowed fund to support the Broward County Public Schools’ Student Enrichment in the Arts (SEAS) Program. She was a founder of the Arts for the Future Scholarship Program that provides funds for local high school students to pursue their education in the arts. Rose supported the establishment of an educational endowment fund at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the Rose Miniaci Education Center to give children and their families the opportunity to participate in cultural activities at the Center. She established the Rose Miniaci Family Fund at the Community Foundation of Broward, and her generous donations to Nova Southeastern University contributed to funding of the Alfred and Rose Miniaci Performing Arts Center, Museum of Discovery and Science, and additionally to Symphony of the Americas, Miami City Ballet, Florida Grand Opera, Ann Stork Center, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, City of Hope, the Children’s Home Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, United Jewish Appeal, Diabetes Association, Alzheimer’s Foundation, Saint Anthony’s Foundation for Education, and countless other organizations.

Rose Miniaci left a legacy that her family will follow in the manner she would have desired: with love, laughter, generosity and wit. We couldn’t be more grateful for the gift of having Rose in our lives and will dearly miss her glorious spirit and the love she gave to us all.
