Opening prayer by Chris during memorial service on July 8, 2023-
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the opportunity you have given us to honor a wonderful woman today. We are so thankful for the loved ones who have gathered here to say their final goodbyes to my grandmother. I pray that your peace will surround each of us, a peace that can unmistakenly be known as a gift from you.
I pray you give us the courage to face our pain and the strength to remember the beautiful memories that we have and to think of them often.
Please fill this room right now with your presence as we come now in worship of you, in celebration of the life that she lived for you and the impact it had on so many, the legacy she has left behind and the strong foundation she has laid.
May you continue to be glorified by all of the fruits of all of our actions as we continue the race she has finished so well.
You have triumphed over death and we have triumphed through you. We mourn today, but we rejoice that she is with you and that we will not be separated forever. We eagerly await your return in glory, when the dead in Christ will rise first and we will all meet you in the heavens.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

My family and I want to thank you for all the love and care you have shown over our family during this time. Thank you for taking your time to come celebrate and honor an amazing mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
The outpouring of love and compassion has been overwhelming! I think one of our family's greatest privileges is to have so many friends that show great care and kindness.
It has been a difficult few weeks for our family to say the least. It is so strange to have two such strong emotions at the same time. One is JOY- genuine joy at what we know our mother is experiencing right now with Jesus and of course POPPY. The other emotion is SADNESS- a mother's love is like no other. It is impossible to overstate the blessing of a Godly mother in our lives.
At every point of our lives, she has been there cheering us on and being our BIGGEST ENCOURAGER. Mom saw the goodness not only in her family, but others as well. She was always speaking life into others with her sweet spirit and gentle smile. And if you were on her heart, you were on her prayer list.
One of the beautiful things that happened this week is the abundance of stories that her friends and family shared with us. A story that came to mind that illustrates mom's spirit of kindness is... mom and dad went to a dinner party and the hostess became a bit anxious, even angry, when extra guests showed up and there was not enough silverware to accommodate them. They made it through the dinner party, but the next day mom showed up at her house with a new set of silverware so the hostess would not have to worry about not having enough again. Mom always wanted to make sure everyone was happy and helped us keep perspective on what really mattered in life.
Our family knows and trusts the Bible because she taught it to her family every day. We know selflessness and faithfulness because she lived it out in front of us every day. We know resilience and strength because of her legacy. And most of all, we know what LOVE looks like because that is the most precious gift she shared with us.
Thank you again for sharing these special moments with us.

Again, on behalf of the Osman’s, Meyer’s, Poplin’s and Hall’s we want to sincerely thank you for honoring us and our mother with your presence today. As I am sure each of you think of your own mother, ours was a very special person who we will miss greatly but we are also rejoicing that she is at home with God. It is also reassuring to know that she is now catching up with so many people who went before her… especially our dad, Poppy.
Nancy Roselyn Hall was born on December 4, 1935 to I. P. and Syble Cox here in South Florida. (Hold that South Florida part as I’ll come back to that shortly.) While she did not have a great father figure in her life, she was very close to her mother who in fact lived with us for many years both in Hialeah and at the current house in Palm Springs North. She was fortunate enough to have four siblings in her life as well. Anthony, who is in heaven with her today, Bob, Judy and Kenny. She met my dad and they were married in 1958 and had a loving marriage until he passed away in 2016. Along the way, they had four children- Jean, Beth, Kathy and myself. We have spent a lot of time recently reminiscing and one of the things that constantly amazes me is that (I know a lot of you already know this) we had six people… four of which were girls… all living in such a small house with only one bathroom. Looking back, it was awesome! It was awesome because of the love and sweet spirit our mom had that made it all work out.
Mom had four main LOVES in life. I guess I'll go in reverse order of what they were. A few moments ago I said she was born here in South Florida. This was a BIG deal to her. She was a fifth generation Floridian and she was proud of it. As a matter of fact, she, Beth and Jim spent several years researching her genealogy to gather enough information to be proclaimed a FLORIDA PIONEER and she has the certificate that has been issued to her from the state. She liked to call herself a True Conch! And as you might expect, she did not stop there… since all her children were born in Florida, we each have our own certificate as well. I would go on to talk about what else was discovered in the genealogy research but I’m pretty sure I’d get myself in trouble.
Next would most certainly be work. Mom was a hard worker from the time she was a little girl up until just a few years ago. One of her early jobs was as a Candy Striper at Jackson Memorial. She would catch the bus from south Hialeah over to the hospital and then take it back home. It was there that she learned she had interest in all things medical. Several years down the road she went to work for Doctor Case at the urging of her cousin Ann. She worked there for some 25+ years and that team became a part of our family. She made some great friends there and those relationships continue to this day. But the work did not stop after the office by any means. She worked at home tirelessly. She was always sewing something, crocheting something, quilting something and on and on. She was not one to just sit… her mind was always going and crafting was something she thoroughly enjoyed doing even in these last few years.
So, her second main love (and trust me when I say it’s extremely close to number ONE) was family. She loved her family fiercely. She loved her family fully and she loved her family UNCONDITIONALLY. We each knew it, we felt it and she said it to us often. She loved my dad, and it showed us how to love our spouses. This is her legacy, and she was proud of us. She loved Jean and Craig. She loved Danny, Kristin, Finn, Denver and Jett. She loved Keri, Eric, Allie and Easton. She loved Beth and Jim. She loved Kathy and Mark. She loved Chris, Amanda, Rylee, Mason and JoJo. She loved Tim, Michelle, Liam and Sadie. She loved Jon, Renee, Judd and Brody. She loved me and Leanne. She loved Haley, William and Mitchell. She supported all of us in whatever direction we headed and she will continue to support us in whatever direction we head next. She met each of us exactly where we were at any particular time and place in life. Now let me say this… we did not always appreciate that “LOVE” at the time... but I bet we do now and we miss it already. Family has always been such a focus for her- going way back to when we were young and we would all travel to one of her brothers' or sister's home for Thanksgiving or Christmas, big family reunions in Sebring, more recently family gatherings at the HOP watching everyone have fun, or simply in a one-on-one phone call or conversation. She loved her family dearly.
Lastly, mom loved God. She loved him with all her heart, soul and mind. She was not born into a church going family by any means. However, she was introduced to God by Mrs. Lura Ann Mullinax who was her step-fathers mother. Once introduced, she was infatuated to learn more. She would tell us stories of taking her younger brother Anthony by bus down to Central Church of Christ when they were pretty young. It was just the two of them at first. It was tough to get there and back, but it was important to her then and throughout her entire life. It’s funny to me how one person we never met has had such an impact on so many. Through her telling mom the story of Jesus, it has impacted more people than I can count. That’s kind of the story of the life of mom, grandma, Nancy or whatever you called her. Her life played out beyond her wildest dreams and each person here today is a part of that story, that canvas of people, places and things.
Over the last several days through conversations, a couple key words come to mind to describe mom. Words like strength, resilience, tenacity. Words like kindness, gentleness and again unconditional love. As we are promised many times in God’s Word, this world is temporary, but his promise is forever. None of us in this room knows when our time will come… but be assured, it will come. Mom lived a remarkable life by any measure… but the most important measure has come and passed. She won the race, the victory is hers and she is now reaping the rewards of eternity in heaven. I know for a fact she would want me to remind everyone here the race is for all, the victory is for all and God's promise is everlasting and it's real!
As we wrap up today, I’d like to close with a few quotes that remind me of what mom’s of all kind mean to us:
“ A mother's hug lasts long after she lets go”
“ Life does not come with a manual… it comes with a mother”
“Mothers are like glue. Even when you can’t see them, they’re still holding the family together.”
“Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their heart forever”
“To the world you are a mother, but to your family you are the world”
Again, thank you each for the honor you have given her and us by being here today. We will remember it forever.
And Mom, please know… everything we are, you helped us to be and we thank you and LOVE YOU!
Closing remarks and prayer by Danny during memorial service on July 8, 2023-
Thank y'all for coming today. I wanted to share a few thoughts about my grandma with you today. At first, I was going to talk about how tough my grandma was, but as I thought about it, my fondest memories were sitting and talking to grandma. Not just the conversation, but that she was always listening and how that made me feel. Come to think of it, I can't remember a time when I felt like she wasn't listening to me- listening like I was the most important person in the world. NOW I know where my momma learned it from. Maybe it's just a selfish thought or just maybe it's how grandma wanted me to feel- but she always made me FEEL pride, I felt smart, I felt crazy, I felt confident, but most of all... I felt love and it was the way she did it too. She did it with her eyes, her smile, and the occasional OH DAN. I'd like to think I was just special and that she loved me the most, but I would bet she made lots of you here feel the same way. As I was thinking about this, I couldn't help but think about how I feel when I pray. Maybe it is God comforting me or maybe it is grandma teaching me to be more like Jesus. Isn't that what we are supposed to do? Isn't that what grandma and poppy modeled for their family? I don't know if it was intentional or if they were just LIVING RIGHT.
I want to leave you with three ways that grandma modeled Jesus to me in her life- they are always there, they are always happy to hear from you and they always love you.
Please pray with me. Almighty Lord, Creator of mountains high and valleys low. We thank you for the opportunity to come to YOU. Hear our prayers. I know that you are present in our lives, especially when times are hard, so I ask that you give us comfort in these hard times. Let every day going forward be different from the past because you have changed us- just like you changed grandma all those years ago. Help us to remember the christian examples that have come before us so one day we can also hear, WELCOME HOME GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT. We love you and give you praise. Amen.
Thank you for honoring my grandma with us today. Immediately following the service, our family would like to invite you to a meal and fellowship at my parent's home, so please come experience the HOP. The address is located in the foyer if you need it. The family will join you shortly after the entombment.
Closing prayer by Liam prior to entombment on July 8, 2023-
