A funeral mass will be held from 11:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church 7450 Stirling Road Hollywood, FL 33024 with Father Mario officiating. The viewing will follow at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 2401 Davie Rd. Plantation, FL 33317 from 1:00 to 4:00p.m.
Maria (Nena) was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador to Manuel Aviles and Lastenia Aguilar on June 18, 1927. She went to school at Colegio de Guayaquil and married Rodolfo Lascano in 1947. She was a teacher at Colegio Amarilis Fuentes and a secretary at Cruzada Redentora de Obras Sociales (CROS). After immigrating to New York, she graduated from FIT with a degree in Fashion Design and went on to work as a pattern maker for reputable bridal gown houses, such as Joelle Bridals and Ilissa Bridals along with Ruben Cruz as his assistant. She was also the treasurer of the Hispanic Committee at her local Catholic church.
Maria (Nena) is preceded in death by her siblings Germán Avilés, Arturo Avilés, Jorge Avilés, Manuel Avilés, Alianza Jijón, and Polo Avilés.
Maria (Nena) is survived by her children: Aurora Vera, Lourdes Lascano, Patricio and wife Marlene Lascano, and Jose Lascano; her siblings: Lupe Aviles, Reina Aviles, and Franklin Aviles; her seven grandchildren: Maria Negro, Jorge Vera, Ivan Vera, Susan Di Donato, Christian Lascano, Alvaro Lascano, Mario Lascano; her fifteen great-grandchildren: Mariah Vera, Estuardo Hernandez, Ivan Vera, Javier Lascano, Alex Vera, Andres Hernandez, Gabriela Lascano, Adriana Vera, Yamila Lascano, Gabriela Hernandez, Karla Negro, Ariel Hernandez, Mia Negro, Santiago Hernandez Caesar Di Donato; and her five great-great-grandchildren: Lucas Apablaza, Dax Hamilton, Brax Hamilton, Mia Vera, and Isla Hamilton.
