It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Len A. Haussler, a cherished husband, revered financial and investment expert, and a true friend to many. Len departed this world early Thursday morning, April 18, 2024, in South Florida, with his loving wife Jakki (Simmons) Haussler by his side.
Len was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he established himself as a pillar in the financial community. Together with his wife Jakki, they founded Opus Capital Management, Inc. in 1996. As the President of this leading Institutional investment advisory and private wealth management firm, Len was renowned for his systematic, value-oriented approach to asset management. His pioneering strategies significantly advanced how institutions handle investments, notably impacting the City of Cincinnati's pension fund which, at that time was valued at approximately $2.0 billion dollars. His innovative asset allocation strategies have been widely recognized and implemented, earning him commendations from various financial communities.
Before co-founding Opus, Len served as the Assistant Treasurer and Director of Investments at Cincinnati Bell Inc., where he directed investments for more than $1 billion in assets. His earlier roles included Manager of Planning and Analysis for the Mead Corporation, and Lecturer at the University of Cincinnati. Len was a member of the CFA Society of Cincinnati, a licensed Certified Cash Manager (CCM) and a CPA, holding an MBA and a BBA in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati.
In his personal life, Len embraced a spirited zest for leisure and luxury, at a value price. He was a culinary enthusiast of fine foods and exotic automobiles, hobbies that showcased his sharp eye for both elegance and value. His enthusiasm for fantasy football affectionately earned him the title of 'seasonal husband' from Jakki. To Len, it was always about the stats, seldom making a player selection based on pure qualitative attributes. His delight in life’s pleasures was apparent to everyone who knew him.
Len and Jakki’s residence, a majestic 1881 Chateauesque castle adorned with winged griffins, reflected his unique taste and love for grandeur, mirroring the boldness and creativity he brought to his work. A voracious reader and connoisseur of high-quality craft beers, Len’s diverse interests made him a fascinating figure to all who knew him.
Len is survived by his devoted wife, Jakki, and leaves behind a legacy of professional innovation and personal warmth that will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and colleagues.
