John B. Hainor

John was born in Hamlin, West Virginia on October 18, 1935, to parents Virginia and John Hainor, and began his aeronautical interest at the Military School at the circle in Hollywood, Florida at the age of 15. He then studied at the University of Tennessee before entering the Air Force Academy in 1957.

Upon graduation, he saw action in Vietnam as a fighter pilot. His career as a commercial pilot begin with Braniff Airways in 1964 and continued as a Captain with Braniff International Airlines into the late 1980’s.

He also flew for other commercial entities before retiring in 1995. During his 31 years as a commercial pilot, Capt. Hainor was frequently recognized for his impeccable work. John was a man of strong character, very determined and very reserved. He proudly help the USO and The National WWII Museum.

John met the love of his life, Rosa (Marita), through his friend, Capt. Don Hooper, also a pilot with Braniff international Airlines. John and Marita were married soon after. During their 33 years of marriage, they shared many happy moments and went on unforgettable trips. John was a great human being, enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his dog “General”. He lived a life of glory and love, and was a role model for many young Americans.

John is survived by his wife, Rosa Hainor, cousins Steve, Tom and Scott Pralley, Sara Randolph, Rosemary Matthews, Julia Gothard and Alice Jane Hainor, along with many good friends throughout South Florida.

A private graveside burial will take place in the near future.
