He was born on March 14, 1934 in Chapple, Ontario to Chesley and Dorothy Elliott. He was one of 12 children. As a young man he discovered a love of cooking, he worked for various businesses in the district including cooking on the Hallett for Mando. After retiring he settled in Emo spending time at the Golden Age Manor. He enjoyed spending time with his neighbours and helping them by picking up mail, medication and anything else they needed. He was very proud to have received the Citizen of the Year award during this time.
Lyle leaves behind his daughter Brenda (Rick) Anderson of Dugald, MB and Lois (Larry) King of Fort Frances, ON; 5 grandchildren Richard and Ryan Anderson, Reggie, Gina and Donald King; 8 great grandchildren; siblings Josie Dyck, Denise (Dwight) Becker, Cecil (Maxine) Elliott, Darlyne (Stu) Bruce, Norma Galusha, Herb (Marvel) Elliott, Judy Kaemingh and Oscar (Darlene) Elliott; uncle Melvin Clark as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; son Larry; siblings Lawrence, George and Allan Elliott; brothers-in-law Arnold Kaemingh, Gill McKechnie, John Dyck, John Wolff and George Meyers; sister-in-law Irene Elliott.
Lyle was also predeceased by a special Aunt Reta Clark, who raised the Elliott children; aunts Phyllis (Ken) Munn, Luella (Perley) Elliot, Lottie (Phil) Howlett and Hazel Clark and nephew Cpl. Danny Elliott.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 99 in Emo, Ontario with The Rev. MJ D. Leewis-Kirk AOJN officiating.
Interment will take place in the Emo Cemetery.
