Richard Maiman

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Richard Maiman my beloved brother on September 29 2024. He was 76. He was born in Flushing NY on August 6th 1948 to Isaac and Lucy Maiman the first of three brothers. He is survived by the youngest brother and remaining family member Bruce deeply thankful for the presence of friends and colleagues attending Richard's funeral and especially grateful to Andrea Renault Richard’s longtime companion.

Richard lived a dutiful purposed life as a photojournalist guided by noble values and the obsessive goal of not only getting the story but getting it right — the true code of his profession. He was a gifted writer but photography was his passion his way of connecting with the world sharing his talent and telling the story through imagery. His work was seen by millions and will continue to be seen by millions more through a photographic legacy that spanned the globe. In that sense, while he may be missed he will always be remembered.

A graveside service for Richard will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Mount Hebron Cemetery, 130-04 Horace Harding Expy, New York, NY 11367.
