Our dad valued family more than anything else. Perhaps because his lost his mother during childbirth, or because he never knew his father. Perhaps because he raised himself alone, really not knowing any siblings. His dedication to his family was evident in the fact he never took a vacation, but would still take his family on trips that meant the world to us. He dedicated nearly 20 years of his life to Saint Joseph School, ensuring the upkeep of his school, and always finding time to look after his students. His children, he would call them.
While we have lost one of the roots of our trees, my father's wife, seven children, and 10 grandchildren will honor him and attempt to follow the path he left for us to follow, with one focus in mind: family. The most important thing in his life was family. He loved nothing more than being surrounded by loved ones, and would make friends jealous of the family he had. Of his family's size. Of how successful all of his children were, and of how much his grandchildren love him.
The world has lost a wonder of a man. A beloved father, husband, and grandfather, he moved on to a more peaceful place, doing what he enjoyed most: spending time with his family. The sun doesn't seem to illuminate as bright. The air feels a little more thin, and a gloomy cloud will forever hover in the hole left in our hearts. We find solace in knowing he is in a stress-free environment, and he will be waiting for his family at the entrance to the Gates of Heaven
