Olga Prochak was born to Anna and Wasyl Dumiak in Little Falls, NY. They soon moved to the lower east side and she and her four siblings; Mike, Mary, Marty and Peter were raised there. She often described the five of them as the fingers on a hand because they were so close. She worked at Macy’s as a young woman after graduating from Washington Irving HS and her dream was to become a tailor. Financial demands deferred her dream but she spent countless hours making clothes for her husband Steve and her children. They raised their four children Stephen, Raymond, Paul and Marianne in her home in Flushing , Queens were she resided for nearly 70 years before her passing. Her welcoming and warm demeanor made her everyone’s “Aunt Ollie” and hers was the house that everyone spent time in. She had natural cooking abilities and would effortlessly host communions, bridal and baby showers for everyone in the neighborhood. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy but she also enjoyed bowling with her friends and the occasional trip to Atlantic City.
She is pre deceased by all of her siblings, husband Stephen and tragically her two sons, Stephen and Paul . She is survived by her children Raymond and Marianne and her daughter in law , Fran and son in law Sean. She was a proud grandparent to Mollie, Katie, Kelly and Danni and great grandmother to Connor, Ryan and Shannon. There is truly a hollow in the heart of the universe in her absence but we must find comfort in knowing she has rejoined her family and rests peacefully in the hands of God.
