She was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 14, 1925, the daughter of the late Michael and Lillian (Rauch) DeSanti. She was raised and educated in Brooklyn and Queens and following her marriage to Frank J. Sansone, they settled in Flushing, Queens where she was a homemaker and they raised their family.
Marie was an excellent cook especially her Italian specialties and her famous cheesecake. She enjoyed reading, loved to watch her soap operas and was an avid bingo player.
Marie was devoted to her husband while he was ill and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, always attending their sporting events and being their favorite babysitter. She learned to drive at a later age and always had a spunky personality and wit.
She marched in the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade several times escorting her grandchildren who were attending Our Lady of Peace School. She was a communicant of St. Mel’s Roman Catholic Church in Flushing. She moved upstate in 2011 to Clifton Park to be closer to her family.
She was the wife of the late Frank J. Sansone who died February 26, 1983; loving mother of Alexander V. (Joanne) Sansone of Lynbrook, Long Island, Michael J. (Fran) Sansone of Halfmoon, NY and Michele (Charles) Seidl of Clifton Park, NY; adored grandmother of Jennifer (Jen Marie), Michael (Kathy), Kate (Eric), Dan, Christina, Frank (Keith), Nick (Deanna), Christopher (Nola) and Emily (Ricky); great grandmother of Matthew, Christopher, Charlotte and Thomas; sister of Bessie (late Edward) Aldrich (age 100) of North Carolina, Daniel (late Mary) DeSanti (age 97) of Flushing, Queens and the late Vincent (late Anita) DeSanti. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be at the Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Queens on Friday, October 6th from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 7th 2023, 9:45am at St. Mel’s Roman Catholic Church, 26-15 154th Street, Flushing, Queens. The interment will follow in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Flushing, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare Activity Fund, 1 Abele Boulevard, Clifton Park, NY 12065 in memory of Marie R. Sansone.
