Brian was born in Bayside, Queens to loving parents Donald Pilling and Frances Lee Pilling. In 1982 he began a 20 year career with the NYPD. He married his teenage sweetheart and began their family. While raising his young family, Brian was devoted to the city of New York. Notably, he was a 9/11 first responder, welcomed two babies in emergency deliveries, and worked tirelessly for the city he loved so much. During his tenure teaching at the Police Academy, Brian was instrumental in developing curriculum and touching the lives of countless fledging police cadets. His company ranked first in the academy for several years. He was also a proud member of the NYPD marching band and participated in parades and appearing on television shows. His family will always cherish the police stories he would tell from his days with the NYPD. His family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the police officers that worked alongside Brian, and those that continue to serve the city he loved so much.
After retiring as a Police Sergeant, Brian joined the private sector working alongside a dear friend and radio car partner from his NYPD days for seven years.
In 2021 Brian and his wife fulfilled their lifelong dream of moving to the beach where he was able to focus more of his attention on his favorite pastime, spending time with his family. Anyone that knew Brian knows his family was his greatest joy. In the last decade his family grew with the addition of two son in laws and three grandchildren, enriching Brian’s life.
Brian is survived by his wife of 36 years, Christine Pilling, Daughters Kelly (Scott) MacChesney and Kimberly (Brian) McGehee, Grandchildren Harry, Collins and Boz and many cherished friends, family and extended family members.
