Pearl Angeline Koch, age 93, of Flushing, formerly of Flint Township, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024. Born on February 23, 1931, Angie was the youngest daughter of Thomas Kruson and Agnes Kerepe. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and Nana.
Angie grew up among a large family, full of boisterous fun and traditional family outings to the beach, picnics and regular family gatherings of the extended family. She raised her family in the Flint area and was a member and regular attendee of St. Pius X. She was a constant at all family holiday gatherings, arriving early with a frozen pie in hand and a pastel colored outfit from Macy’s. She brought a bouquet of flowers to celebrate all the grandchildren's important events, including recitals, sports games, coffee shop concerts and graduations. Angie retired in 1996 after two decades of dedicated service in the dietary department at St. Joseph Hospital. She found joy in gardening, watercolor painting, and sketching. A voracious reader, she was known for her love of steamy novels, which she would pass along to her daughters and friends in brimming brown paper grocery bags. Angie loved shopping and enjoyed long back-to-school trips with her children and grandchildren, where they would laugh at stories over lunch and browse their favorite stores. She always took her time to find the perfect Christmas gifts for everyone, often adding little surprises that brought big smiles for the kids. Elvis was her favorite musician and always got her hips moving.
Angie is lovingly remembered by her children: Debra (Carl) Glover, Cheryl Bergey, Art Koch (Sara Plana), and Matthew Koch (Kathy Coughlin) and brother Robert Karkoski. She was a proud grandmother to Cory Glover (Adrian Benedict), Alicia Cox (Jeff Cox), Amy Lounsbury (Matt Lounsbury), Jeremy Hood, and Joshua Hood. Pearl’s legacy lives on through her great-grandchildren: Kelly Shanks (Koty Wells), Owen and Arlo Cox, and Ramona and Reid Glover, as well as her great-great-grandchildren: August, Jaeden, and Leyton Wells.
Preceded in death by her parents, beloved daughter Deneé, all her sisters, and two brothers, Angie's legacy of love and warmth will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Angie was, in every way, the best mom, grandma, and Nana—a source of love to all who had the privilege to know her. She will be dearly missed.
The Koch family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff of Hyde Park Memory Care, with a special thanks to Paige at The Care Team Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hyde Park Memory care in honor of Angie.
