MESSLER, JAMES age 78, of Flushing Michigan, returned to his heavenly home on November 9, 2014 after a long and arduous journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately provided him with final peace. James was born to Robert Messler and Irene Curts in Flint Michigan on July 22, 1936. He graduated from St. Michael’s Catholic High School in Flint, and immediately married the love of his life Rosemary Neumann in 1955. They would be celebrating their 60th anniversary this coming February. He had a rewarding career as a chemist at E.l. Dupont and retired in 1991 with 22 years of service. He was blessed with a large and loving family who he, along with his wife, raised 8 children in the example of patience, compassion, respect, discipline and humility. He taught them to live their lives giving more to the world and your fellow man than you take. James is survived by his wife and life-long friend Rosemary; his children, Karen and Joe Lorenc, Mark and Lynne Messler, Catherine Messler-Eavy and William Lawrence, Michael and Wendy Messler, Scott Messler and Suzanne and Keith Lanctot. He has two other sons who reside in Indana, Christopher Messler and Tim Messler. He also leaves behind a large legacy of 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. James is preceded in death by his mother and step-father Irene and William Curts, special grandmother Anna Prieur, sister Dorthy Nash, and brother Robert Messler. Funeral arrangements have been made through Reigle Funeral Home 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing, MI. with visitation on Tuesday from 3:00 to-8:00 pm. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Pius X Catholic Church G-3139 Hogarth, Flint, MI, at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday with visitation one hour before, November 12, 2014 with burial at New Calvary Cemetery following promptly. The family is requesting donations to either McLaren Hospice or the Alzheimer’s organization be made in lieu of flowers. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Creator.
