Dean was such a funny and caring man. Always  ready to help anyone out. I will miss our talks. You were so knowledgeable in so many things. I never tired listening to you when we talked about the cows and the farm. You were also such a dear friend to my mother. I will never forget you Dean. .  May you Rest In Peace.  

Oh Marie.   How do I choose a couple of memories when there are so very many.  6th grade when we first met is nearly 50yrs ago, so I don't remember much.  I simply remember hanging out with you at your house, no matter where you lived.  Your daddy had an unconditional love for your momma, you and Dalton. There was nothing he wouldn't have done for any of you. Your daddy exuded sweetness, love and wisdom.  
The best memory I have of Dean was about 10 yrs ago.  It was about 2 months after my father passed away, and we were at Marie and Eddy's house, when Dean drove up. When he got out of his truck, he smiled at me with that knowing smile.  As I went to hug him, I said, "I need some 'daddy' love right now" and burst into tears.  He hugged me tight and said nothing.   
He just hugged me.  Rest in Peace, Dean. 

My hero, my idol, the person who shaped me into the man I am today. What can I say, you taught me everything I know. From working on cars, to operating machines, riding horses, and everything in between. The memories will never fade! I love you and will always look up to you! It's as if I can still hear your voice when I'm about to do something questionable. Saying "you better be careful." You always supported me with all of my hobbies and passions with no questions asked. You were always a big ball of knowledge. In my eyes you knew how to, and could do anything. And if something was giving us problems we would "think about it." By the next day there was always a solution! I always have and always will look up to you. There is a hole in my heart that I will never be able to fill, but I know you're right here with me always and forever. I am extremely grateful that you are my grandpa, and all of the things you were able to do for me even though you would "make me earn them." I am proud to be the person you helped shape and I would not have been able to do it without you! I love you more than could ever be put into words! You are my hero! And I am your biggest fan! My life will never be the same without you, and I will miss you every day from now until forever! I cant wait to sit on the porch and drink coffee with you again some day! Until we meet again. Yes, Dean you will be missed! But I will always remember you driving by The shop in your old red truck or stopping and coming in to visit with Marie and I and when Eddie came around you wondered about him, but he turned out to make the cut!! Lol. You helping us fix the back at our Heads or Tails salon! And telling me to charge $20 for my tamales! I might have to with the price of meat now! Rest In Peace my friend!❤️


Uncle Dean was such a fun uncle. I loved it when he would come down to visit my Great Grandma (his mother). One time, he let me let me drive the corvette.  I was about 13 years old.  I thought I was cool, getting drive around those country roads.  Another time, he took me took a street dance. I had a blast being there with him.  I love you Uncle Dean.  

My uncle Dean was the best of the best.  As a little girl, I remember him putting me on his shoulders and riding me around grandma’s farm.  So many memories.  He loved with all his heart.  

Daddy, what can I say! It was you and me for the longest time, us against the world. I couldn’t have asked the lord above for a better father. You were always there when I needed you. You always had such an understanding and compassionate demeanor about you. We didn’t always see eye to eye but we would always agree to disagree. Eddy is so thankful for the great father in law you were to him. He said you definitely shaped him into the man he is today. Dalton had the best grandpa in the world! You definitely spoiled him rotten😊! There is a hole in our hearts and lives without you. I know your dancing in heaven with momma now, what a reunion that must have been!  Ride um high in the sky cowboy, til we meet again! I love you daddy, now and forever❤️❤️❤️

I am a part-time Flatonian who enjoyed every visit with Dean around town and especially with the guys at the 'boys table' at City Market Cafe. Many problems of the world were solved there - only if others would have listened! Dean was a special guy and I will miss his smiling face. So sorry the world lost Dean's wisdom.

Dear Marie,
I was so saddened to hear of the loss of your beloved Dad. I have so many wonderful, wonderful memories of your Dad over our early years. Your home was always a happy place with your Dad's calm, good-humor, kind presence wrangling an every-changing group of girls plotting their next escapade. I wish you and yours peace at this time of grief; and for your Dad, I hope he is dancing with the angels. 

Mr. Hunt or as I always called him Mr. Dean - will be missed. I met him while working summers at Food Mart while on summer break from U of H. He was a respectful, wise, kind, and generous man. Our many conversations while I was working and he was drinking his coffee will be remembered. I will remember his many cars that he would drive to the store and the stories behind each one. My prayers to Jan and the family. 

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have so many memories of Mr. Hunt when we were in high school. One time, we went to an Austin mall with Marie and Mr. Hunt. It was in the 80s. Mr. Hunt and I were standing together as Marie tried on something. Some teenagers with mohawks and typical 80s over the top clothes walked up by us.  Mr. Hunt started laughing and then apologizing. Between laughs, he stammered out, "I'm sorry darlin', but you are about the funniest thing I think I've ever seen." He wasn't wrong. We were pretty outrageous then. I still giggle to myself when I think of it. He will be missed.
