Cooper Johnson age 92 of Flatonia passed away August 11, 2014. Cooper was born November 15, 1921 in Old Moulton to the late James Louis and Iola Cooper Johnson. He was a public weigher at the cattle auctions in Flatonia, Columbus, LaGrange, El Campo, Lexington, Hallettsville, Caldwell and Seguin. Cooper was also a member of the Flatonia Masonic Lodge, Flatonia American legion and a WWII Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife-Barbara Johnson of Flatonia, 1 son-Eric Albers and wife Tracey of Hutto, 2 daughters-Susan Johnson of Poland and Peggy Halamicek of Schulenburg, 2 step-daughters-Rachel Benavides and husband Carlos of Flower Mound and Michelle Acosta and husband Jose of Flower Mound. 2 brothers-David Johnson of San Antonio and Johnny Johnson of Bay City, 2 sisters-Dorothy Schubert of San Antonio and Fern Profiri of Austin, grand- children-John Harkrider and wife Eloisa and Kaycee Albers, step grand-children-Macie, Darian and Paxton Benavides,Bayleigh, Delany and Remy Acosta, great-grand-children-Gabriela and Mark Harkrider, Carlos Elarba and Andres Elarba.
Pallbearers-Daniel and Jimmy Johnson, Toby Homuth, Tommy Tipton, Clifford Wenske and John Harkrider.
Cooper is preceded in death by 2 brothers-Woodrow and Glenn Johnson, 4 sisters-Irene Wenske, Laura Zouzalik, Gertrude Branecky, and Winnie Bohnstedt, and 1 grand-son-Karl Halamicek.
Visitation will begin at the Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia at 10:00am Thursday, August 14, 2014 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Rowell officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
