William (affectionately known as Bill or WB) grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, raised by Joseph Sr, and Sarah Muller. When he was about 6 years old, Jehovah’s Witnesses arrived at his door looking for someone interested in a Bible Study. That was how his mother learned the scriptures and later faithfully served as a loyal servant of Jehovah. Little did he know that one day he would follow in his mother’s footsteps as a faithful servant of Jehovah.
In 1958, he enlisted in the US Military, and he listed his mother’s religion, the only one he knew, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The Military knew this wouldn’t work so they asked him, “What is your father’s religion?” He changed it to Southern Baptist, his father Joseph’s religion. After the military, he worked with his hands, which included working for General Motors, and even owning a Refrigeration Repair business in Jersey City.
In 1969 he met the love of his life, Diane Kee. In 1975 they were married and became inseparable. While listening to Bible truths about Jehovah God from his brother Wayne over the years and observing the joy and happiness of his wife while studying the Bible, in time he finally agreed to study. (Psalms 83:18). Bill and Diane dedicated their life to Jehovah God and were baptized in 1982 while attending the Bayonne Congregation in New Jersey. Bill loved to share Bible truths with everyone, no matter where he was!
Over the years the entire family enjoyed many wonderful experiences under his lead. From renovating assembly halls, visiting Wallkill and Brooklyn Bethel, to entertaining branch representatives and members of the Bethel family, Bill always sought opportunities to teach his family to love Jehovah. Bill led by example, becoming an elder in the congregation in the 1980’s. As a couple, Bill and Diane helped many people to study the Bible and learn about Jehovah God, becoming zealous ministers themselves. We cannot name them all, but he truly left an impression on them.
Bill realized one of the best ways to support his wife as a pioneer is to become a pioneer. Bill and Diane began regular pioneer service together in 1999 with the Mount Holly Congregation. They may have faced their own set of challenges, but they never lost their joy and zeal for the ministry. When their friends needed a break during their ministry, Bill always would jokingly say, “There would be quitters in the last days!” It was his love and gratitude to Jehovah that drove Bill to appear as if he had unlimited energy. All of us remember how he was always ready to give a witness with a tract in his pocket. Bill retired from PSE&G with a plan: “Pioneer with Diane for the rest of my life.”
Bill enjoyed some of his best years here in Palm Coast, Florida, forging friendships throughout the congregations they attended and visited. They served where the need was greater in Palatka, as well as pioneering here in Palm Coast. Together they inspected Kingdom Halls for the Regional Building Committee, and were privileged to attend four different pioneer service schools in their cumulative years of pioneer service. Additionally, Bill recently enjoyed the privilege of spending the week at the school for congregation elders. These were all truly wonderful and memorable privileges that he enjoyed!
Bill was one of twelve siblings. He was predeceased by his father Joseph and his mother Sarah, his two siblings, Joseph Jr and Sandie, and two of his children, Sheryl and Craig. He is survived by his loving devoted wife and partner Diane, his older siblings Hezekiah, Hazer Lee, Herbert David, sister Lillie, his younger siblings Wayne (Gloria), Lemuel (Melissa), Veda, Marshel (Douglas), Pandora, his children Billy, Karen (Victor), Marcus, and Jeffrey (Karla), ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews that he adored. There are also countless members of his spiritual family that will greatly miss him. Bill wants the entire family that they’ve accumulated over the years to know that he loved them all, unconditionally, and hopes to see them again, “in paradise.” -Luke 23:43.
Bill believed in the “resurrection” Jesus promised. (John 5:28,29). He will live again, and our family can be whole once more. We are confident that Jehovah remembers his faithful son, William Benjamin Muller Sr. -Malachi 3:16; Hebrews 6:10.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.craigflaglerpalms.com for the Muller family.
