Robert “Bobby” Thomas Scharer III, 64, of Palm Coast passed away on March 4, 2020 and is now a very special angel. He was the son of the late Robert Scharer Jr. and Evelyn (Barrie) Scharer of Palm Coast. He is survived by a brother David Scharer (Rosemarie) of Palm Coast, FL, and a sister Ruthy Scharer (Tom) of North Kingstown, RI. He has one niece, Rachel Scharer Case (Chas) of North Port, Fl and one great nephew Carter James Case. Bobby has many cousins, aunts and uncles and was dearly loved by all who knew him. Born in McKeesport, PA He lived for 30 years in Warwick, Rhode Island and attended the Trudeau Center before moving to Palm Coast, FL. Bobby attended Step Up Industries for many years. The last two years he attending the Manville Life Skills Center and lived in one of their group homes with the most caring and loving staff imaginable. He was in the very first Boy Scout Troup at the Trudeau Center in Warwick, RI for the mentally handicapped. He was the focus of the IBM Special Olympics advertising campaign in 1987. He won many medals in Special Olympics and International Special Olympics in various sports. He was an avid bowler. He loved country music, word search puzzles and coloring. His favorite times were Christmas, birthdays and being around family. He always had a big smile and touched so many people. He was a member of Palm Coast Methodist Church and was an acolyte for over a decade.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on March 14, 2020 at 10am at the Palm Coast United Methodist Church on 5200 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to ARC Flagler County Inc. PO Box 354412 Palm Coast, FL 32135.
