John Depinho

DePinho, John, age 65, of Palm Coast, FL, husband, Dad, Pa and friend to everyone he met, returned to the Lord on July 28th 2018 in the arms of his wife, after a valiant battle with cancer. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, love and prayers, and Tom Brady carried him through his long battle against cancer. He was and forever will be Boston Strong. Known for his ease in conversation and storytelling even with complete strangers, everyone he met was his “pal”. He maintained a positive attitude even in the toughest of times and never complained of his situation. Many who had the privilege of meeting him were forever changed by his gregarious laugh, deep love of his family and the Lord, and his propensity for off color jokes and Cuervo 1800. He loved his family with a deep and lasting strength, he never left a room without kissing his wife or letting his children know he loved them. He loved adventure whether scuba diving, boating, or cruising in his vintage red corvette with a backwards baseball cap or riding down A1A on his motorcycle. He checked off every adventure off his list except he missed out on Sturgis. John was born on November 17, 1952 in Boston, Ma. to Joseph and Irene DePinho, and raised in Roslindale. John owned his own business, JD towing. He then went on to graduate from the Boston Police Academy, serving Boston for 5 years before moving to Florida and joining the Hollywood Police Department for 20 years before retiring and moving to Palm Coast. Because he just didn’t know how to sit still he joined the Daytona State College family. John is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Gail, their children Alice (Brett) and US Army Sgt. Travis currently deployed in Iraq (Airman First Class Lauren).; his first grandchild named in his honor; John “the deuce”. He leaves behind his best friend since Kindergarten John Rooney. His beloved “brother” Kevin Minger (Dawn) they shared a truly unbreakable bond. As well as his lifelong friends Kevin Kuzzi, Ray Staffier and Robert Calden. Even in death he was thinking of his family, he wished to wait 30 days prior to a celebration of his life for time to grieve.
