Gail J. Mynatt, age 85, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023, at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. She was born on December 27, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Edwin and Dorothy Hildebrand. Gail found her lifelong companion in John "Rup" Mynatt, and in 1959, they exchanged vows, embarking on a journey that spanned 64 beautiful years together.
A devoted homemaker, Gail dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was not only a loving wife to John but also a nurturing mother to their four children. Gail possessed a special talent for sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Her generous spirit shone through as she volunteered her time to create quilts for U.S. servicemen and women stationed overseas, a testament to her patriotism and compassion.
Gail had a "green thumb" and found joy in cultivating her beautiful flowers and plants. Her love for nature extended to outdoor activities, where she maintained an active lifestyle. Gail embraced exercise, attending Pilates classes and enjoying leisurely rides on her bicycle.
In 1994, Gail faced the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Brenda Davis “Mynatt”, who preceded her in death. Gail was also preceded in death by her brother Lyle Hildebrand and his wife Janet. Gail is survived by her beloved husband, John "Rup" Mynatt, their children: Rhonda Allen, John and his wife Gabriella Mynatt, Douglas and his wife Megan Mynatt. Cherished grandchildren include Jesse, Bradley, Sydney, Alexander, Evan, Antonia, Philip, Connor, and Makena. Gail leaves a lasting legacy through her great-grandchildren: Alexis, Carson, Gabriel, Jaxon, Hunter, Fiona and Kane. She is also survived by her sister Jill Hildebrand.
Gail's memory will be cherished by numerous other relatives and friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gail's honor to Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church in Palm Coast, a place that held special significance in her heart. Donations can also be made to The Sea Turtle Hospital at UF Whitney Labs.
Let us remember Gail for the love, laughter, and generosity she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her spirit live on in the memories we hold dear. As Gail would say, this is not goodbye, it’s see you later.
A memorial gathering for Gail will be held Monday, January 8, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM.
