Laura Jean Wood, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022 at home with her children by her side. Born January 21, 1931 in Fayetteville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert Martin and Emma Mae Fox Martin. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Leonard R. Wood; two sisters: Ethel Bailes and Zella Mae Tallent; two brothers: Earl Martin and Robert “Buck” Martin.
Left to cherish many precious memories are her children: Linda Ramsey (Eddie), Bruce Wood (Becky) and Craig Wood (Sonya); three grandchildren: Kimberly, Greg and Tara; four great grandchildren: Emma, Ethan, Kynnedi and Grady.
Although our mom didn't work outside the home, she was a wonderful and loving Mother and Wife, and took the best care of her family. Mom always finished anything she started and although she didn't graduate Fayetteville High School, she went back to school and got her GED.
Mom loved flowers and always kept her yard immaculate. She loved picking up sticks and she earned the nickname "Stick lady" by her family, neighbors, and passers by.
Mom, in her later years sang in Church with our Dad at Lansing Baptist and other churches.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 13th, at 11 AM at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with Pastor Kenny Hayes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
