James Richard Rice, Sr.

Born in Garten, WV, he was the son of the late Roy Calvin and Ivy McDarmont Rice.

Mr. Rice proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps.

He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and tinkering with things around the house. He loved his dogs and was an avid animal lover. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family and his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Richard Rice, Jr.; sister, Jennie Lee Henson; brother, Robson Rice; and grandson, Kenneth McKee.

He leaves behind to cherish wonderful memories, his loving wife, Donna Dickerson Rice; son, Jamie (Stephanie) Rice; daughters, Mysty (Michael) Underwood, Mary Ann (Roger) Dilley, Cindy (John) Ward, and Teresa (Gary) Ballard; grandchildren, Jenna Underwood, Claire Underwood, Eli Underwood, Kieran Underwood, Jacob Rice, Joseph Rice, Crystal Smith, Beth Bowman, Jessica Morehead, Josh Ballard, and James “Bo” Rice; along with numerous great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Peggy Bryant and Linda Fiore; and brother, Calvin Ray Rice.

Funeral services will be 1:00P.M. Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, WV. He will be laid to rest in Huse Memorial Park.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services beginning at 12:00P.M.
