He was the son of the late Bernard James and Bessie Holcomb Legg.
Mr. Legg was a proud UMWA Democrat. When in the 5th grade, he left Lick Fork school to work in the mines at Leatherwood and continued in the coal mining industry until his retirement from Royal Coal Fayette Station.
He was an avid gardener, known for growing beautiful tomatoes, and feeding many by sharing the bounty of his homegrown garden. He enjoyed working on firearms, playing the fiddle and sitting on his front porch listening to bluegrass music.
He was a very strong and simple man, always in a hurry and forever appreciative of anything that was done for him.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl N. Legg; and two sisters, Opal Morton and Norma Friend.
Left to cherish his memory include his brother, Billy (Sandra) Legg of Saint Albans, WV; two sons, Russell “Bo” (Beverly) Legg and Danny (Debbie) Legg; a daughter, Debbie (Darrell) Wolfe; four grandsons, Jake Legg, James, Ben and Cody Wolfe; three granddaughters, Delta Legg, Tabitha and Amanda Legg; and many great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Huse Memorial Park, 124 Park Drive Fayetteville, WV. He will be laid to rest beside his wife immediately following.
